Amikor pár napja összegyűjtöttem 15 szép európai teret, Olaszországot szándékosan kihagytam, hogy külön bejegyzést írhassak az ottani terekről. Azt is elhatároztam, hogy ha 3 nap alatt legalább ezren megnyitják az európai bejegyzést, akkor nem leszek lusta és gyorsan összeállítom az olasz listát is. 1020-nál tartok, úgyhogy íme: északról haladunk dél felé, jó sok képet mutatok (cserébe kevesebb a szöveg :)), a leghíresebb tereket pedig ezúttal sem említem, mert mondjuk a velencei Szent Márk térről vagy a római Piazza Navonáról úgyis mindenki tudja, hogy szépek.
When I collected 15 beautiful European squares a few days ago, I deliberately omitted Italy so that I can have a dedicated post about Italian piazzas. I also decided that if my European post reaches 1000 readers in 3 days, I won't be lazy and will promptly prepare my Italian list too. I'm at 1020 now, so here it goes: we're heading from north to south, I'm showing many photos (but with much less text in return :)) and I am once again leaving out the most famous squares because everyone knows that, say, Piazza San Marco in Venice or Piazza Navona in Rome is beautiful.
Piazza Duomo - Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige)

| Néhány trentói utca akár Ausztriában is lehetne, de a főtér azért valamennyire olaszos. Különösen szépek a tér északi végén a szökőkút mögött látható Cazuffi-házak, amelyeknek az egész homlokzatát freskók borítják. Nem teljesen értettük a koncepciót az előtérben látszó, ideiglenesen kihelyezett fűszernövények mögött, de érdekes színfoltjai voltak a térnek. Some of the streets in Trento might as well be in Austria but the main square retains some Italian look. Looking north, the Cazuffi houses behind the fountain are particularly spectacular with their entire facades covered in frescoes. We did not fully grasp the concept behind the temporarily exhibited herbs in the foreground but they added a special touch anyway. |

The massive cathedral at the southern end of the square also reflects the duality of the town: it looks Italian overall but the top of the bell tower is clearly Austrian-influenced. |

| Riva del Garda a Garda-tó északi csücskénél fekszik. Az 1555-ben emelt Torre Apponale által uralt főtere önmagában is szép lenne, de egy oldalán ráadásul nyitott a tó felé és gyönyörű a kilátás. Riva del Garda lies at the northernmost tip of Lake Garda. Its main square, dominated by the Torre Apponale since 1555, would be nice in itself but it even has an opening on one side to the lake with great views. |

| A Milánótól nagyjából 40 km-re fekvő Vigevanoban nem sok turistát láttunk, pedig a főtérre belépve még a szürke időben is egyértelmű volt, hogy ez az árkádokkal határolt reneszánsz mestermű egész Olaszország egyik legszebb tere. We didn't see many tourists in the town of Vigevano, about 40 km away from Milan, but as we entered the main square, it was immediately clear despite the dull weather that this Renaissance masterpiece, flanked by colonnades on three sides, is one of the grandest squares in entire Italy. |

The tiny but very harmonious main square of a tiny town. The pink decorations here and there were put up to greet the competitors of the Giro d'Italia who had passed through the day before. |

| Trieszt talán a legkevésbé olasz város: évszázadokon át a Habsburgok uralták, a második világháború után pedig közel 10 éven át nem sikerült eldönteni, hova tartozzon, addig ún. "szabad terület" volt. Végül 1954-ben Olaszországhoz csatolták, az elegáns főteret ekkor nevezték el az olasz egységről. Trieste is probably the least Italian city: it was ruled by the Habsburgs for centuries and it was a so-called "free territory" for almost a decade after WW2 while the relevant parties tried to reach a decision on where it should belong. It eventually went to Italy in 1954, that's when the elegant main square was named after the Italian unity. |

| Muggia közvetlenül Trieszt mellett fekszik, az Isztriai-sziget egyetlen olyan települése, amely ma is olasz fennhatóság alatt van és Magyarországról autózva a főtere a legközelebbi olyan hely, ahol az általam imádott régi olasz kisvárosok hangulatát igazán érzem. Tipikus házak, egy látványos és nagyon régi dóm, kedélyesen sétálgató és gyönyörűséges nyelven beszélgető helyiek, brutálisan finom kávé és a közeli tenger illata. Nagyon szeretem Muggiát. Muggia lies just next to Trieste, it's the only town on the Istrian peninsula that still belongs to Italy and, when one's driving from Hungary, it's the closest place where I can really feel the ambiance of old Italian small towns. Typical houses, a spectacular historic cathedral, relaxed locals strolling around and conversing in this beautifully melodic language, excellent coffee and the smell of the nearby sea. I really love Muggia. |

Lucca is one of the prettiest and most atmospheric towns of Italy. If I were to expand this selection just a little bit, I can immediately think of two more squares from here that would deserve to be listed. |

Piazza del Plebiscito - Nápoly / Naples (Campania)

| Nápoly óvárosa nagyrészt szűk sikátorok labirintusa, szokatlan itt egy ekkora tér. Meg a rajta álló templom is, amit mintha a római Pantheonból és a Szent Péter tér oszlopsoraiból raktak volna össze. The historic core of Naples is mostly a maze of narrow alleyways, such large squares are rare here. Just as rare is the church that dominates it, which looks like it was put together from the Pantheon in Rome and the colonnade on St Peter's Square. |

As a reward for making it this far, we got to walk on probably the most elegant (and beautifully illuminated) square of the region, surrounded by the highly ornate Baroque cathedral and its adjacent palaces. |
